Pulwama  (KNO) : Two student activists reached to Batamuran children whose houses were demolished in a gun fight in December of 2017. Mudasir Ahmad Dar and Syed Tajamul Imran, two student activists from Pulwama on Wednesday distributed note books, bags and other reading-writing material among children whose houses were damaged in an encounter on 22 December in Batamuran village of Shopian district. “We contributed shares from our own pocket money and four other friends also helped and collected a decent sum with which we purchased some bags, note books and other materials for these homeless students, Mudasir Dar said, adding that he was moved after noticing a picture in which a student was searching his school bag from debris of his damaged house. He said that they even tried their best to persuade some non-government organizations to help these homeless students but they failed, prompting them to help them at their individual level. “This is a little effort which can encourage others to come forward to help,” the activist said. The relief in the form of books and bags was distributed among ten students in Batamuran. The activists also pledged to bear the cost of their private tuition. A gunfight raged between government forces and militants in Batamuran village on 19 December, a woman and two militants were killed and four residential houses were damaged.(KNO)
